Spherical Roller Bearing Selection
Compare spherical roller bearing series, suffixes, cage designs, internal clearance, bore type, sealing, lubrication, and application requirements.
Selection Factors Buyers Should Confirm
Start with the complete bearing designation and the machine position. A base series identifies the general dimensional family, while the suffix can change bore, clearance, cage, lubrication, sealing, and internal design.
Series and boundary dimensions
Start with the full bearing number and boundary dimensions. Series such as 22200, 22300, 23000, 23100, 23200, 24000, and 24100 can point to different width, load, and housing requirements.
Cage type
Cage references such as CA, CC, MB, and MA should be checked with speed, load, lubrication, and replacement context before quotation.
Clearance class
CN, C3, and C4 should be reviewed with shaft fit, temperature, vibration, and the current failure mode.
Cylindrical or tapered bore
A K or K30 suffix changes the mounting arrangement and may require adapter sleeve or withdrawal sleeve details.
Open, sealed, or shielded configuration
- Bore: Cylindrical or tapered (1:12, 1:30)
- Cage: Cage construction and suffix conventions vary by manufacturer and internal design; preserve the complete marking.
- Clearance: C2, CN, C3, C4, C5
- Sealing: Open or sealed configurations, where available for the selected model.
- Lubrication: Standard grease, high-temperature, or customer-specified

| 22200 | Medium width | 22218, 22220, 22222 | Suffix, bore, clearance, cage, and general machine duty |
| 22300 | Wide | 22315, 22318, 22320, 22322 | Load, shock, vibration, cage, clearance, and contamination |
| 23000 | Low section | 23024 | Large bore relative to outside diameter and available housing space |
| 23100 / 23200 | Wide / extra wide | 23120, 23220 | Width, load rating, shaft support, and available axial space |
| 24000 / 24100 | Low-section wide | 24024, 24124 | Large-shaft arrangements, width, tapered bore, and mounting method |
Application Conditions That Affect Selection
Standard spherical roller bearings serve a vast range of industrial applications: fans and blowers, conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, paper machines, steel mill auxiliary equipment, marine propulsion, and general rotating machinery.
Shock load and vibration
For crushers, screens, and high-impact positions, confirm load direction, peak shock, speed, vibration, cage, clearance, and fits.
Heat and contamination
Steel, paper, cement, and outdoor equipment should include temperature, dust, water, and lubrication conditions.
Lubrication and maintenance access
W33, sealed, open, and relubrication requirements should be reviewed together with housing access.
Replacement brand and failure history
For a replacement, record the complete existing designation, photos, failure symptoms, and any change in machine duty.
