SB Series: Sealed for the Real World
An integrated seal can help limit the entry of dust and moisture and retain grease in suitable applications. Its value depends on the selected seal, speed, temperature, lubrication interval, shaft and housing arrangement, and the actual contaminant.
Why Sealed?
In mining, construction, agriculture, and heavy industry, bearings face constant exposure to:
- Abrasive dust and dirt
- Water and moisture ingress
- Process contamination (cement, ore, chemicals)
- Inadequate or inconsistent field lubrication
Traditional open bearings in these environments require frequent relubrication—which may not happen consistently in the field. SB series bearings help reduce that maintenance burden when seal drag, temperature, speed, and lubrication plan fit the application.
Design Features
- Contact seals: Confirm the seal material, geometry, temperature range, speed limit, and chemical compatibility for the selected model.
- Initial grease fill: Confirm grease type, fill quantity, compatibility, and relubrication instructions.
- Boundary dimensions: Compare the exact sealed and open versions; do not assume identical width.
- External sealing: Bearing seals do not automatically replace housing seals or other contamination controls.
